Breakdown or Breakthrough? - October 2024

Happy October! Have you ever experienced what felt like a breakdown? Whether it was influenced by your mental state, emotions, physical pains, or a combination of all three, the common denominator is that the pressure can build. When this pressure builds, no matter where it comes from, it can feel debilitating. It can spur a myriad of thoughts that create worry about not knowing how to get out of an uncomfortable or painful situation. Finances are another area that can create pressure on many of us, especially as the cost of living everywhere seems to be continually rising, and the discrepancy behind what we get paid can sometimes never feel enough.

Happy September! Imagine sitting on a small cliff, watching the waves crashing against it. As you look out, you see a couple of sea turtles bobbing up and down. They occasionally lift their heads out of the water; otherwise, they float near the top and are tossed around by the unpredictable waves. As you watch them swim, you wonder where they are going and what they might be thinking as they swim in one direction when a large wave comes pushing them in another direction. Do they get upset? Surrender and go with the flow? Do they enjoy where the flow of life is taking them?

Happy August! Have you ever been micromanaged? Have you ever had someone stand over you and watch your every move while you can feel them silently assessing or judging you? If you can relate to this experience in any way, it's probably not a great feeling. It can create tension in the body and self-consciousness, and more mistakes might be made because of the pressure of being watched all the time. You may also feel like your process isn't being respected because you may need some uninterrupted space to complete the task.

July provides continued opportunities for growth and surprises. The golden box often brings mysteries about what you'll get but is always a valuable tool to help you in the game. If you've ever played a version of these video games, you know that the skill is to make contact with the box in order to receive the boost. This month, be on the lookout for your golden mystery box. Gaining access to the box may take work, though. With communication being a significant area of focus for many this month, you'll have opportunities to initiate conversations that will be like jumping up and hitting the box and seeing what boost you get.
